The Key Baco residence is managed by the HAJIR association (Habitat Associatif Jeunes Inter Réseaux), composed of institutional stakeholders from the health sector, but also people specialized in professional training, housing, and accompanying (from the Foyer Sainte Geneviève, Espace Barbara, training center of apprentices, Maison Des Adolescents, Habitat et Humanisme.
Located in the city center of Nantes, facing the Château des Ducs de Bretagne (Castle of the Dukes of Brittany), in the “Madeleine / Champ de Mars” district. The residence is surrounded by several services and equipments. railway station, a community centre (Maison de quartier), Lieu Unique, hospital, public transportation… This corner building, built in the 1960s, has been completely renovated to welcome you. Bordered by three blocks (the Monteuil street, the Crucy street and the Baco street), this building is characterized by patio doors which generously enlightens every apartament (of the residence).
The residence was made for young people (42 apartments), isolated pensioners or in precarious situation (4 apartments), and for one-parent families (3 apartments). The main goal of living together requires/goes through organizing premises (private and collective spaces) in a project dynamic, carried by employees and volunteers of the H.A.J.I.R association, to go far beyond a simple juxtaposition of differences. Key baco is based on a will to create a settlement pattern which connects and unites people of every age. Whether you are in good health or frail, a single-parent family, a worker and even a person looking for a job, you’re welcome in this place of exchanges and mutual aid, in the respect of each other.
Key baco offers quality apartments to low-income people. A convention can give right to an allowance for housing (“A.P.L” Allocation pour le logement in French), which can cover until 90% of their spendings. Housing costs (water, electricity, heating) are included in the monthly rent. Apartments are completely furnished and equipped.
